OMAN TOUR ADVENTURE ESCAPE 10 DAYS

OVERVIEW

The Sultanate of Oman has long captured the imagination of desert lovers. Under the guidance of our Arabian hosts, this desert discovery follows ancient trails of nomadic tribes and desert explorers. Arriving into the colorful city of Muscat, we visit the lively souks and fish markets before joining the Muttrah Trail to enjoy panoramic views of Muscat’s ancient port. Journeying south, we visit Wadi Shab and it’s swimmer’s cave before driving onwards to the Wahiba Sands, home to the Al-Wahiba Bedouin. Our well-paced desert exploration crosses unbroken dunes, some of them up to 100m high. When the sun is high we stop to enjoy the tranquility of the desert environment before following ancient trading routes to our desert camps and enjoy hot sweet tea the Omani way! Continuing our desert tracks we arrive at the white sugar dunes of Khaluf which roll down to the Indian Ocean where we hope to encounter the local Bedu fishermen, trading their catch of the day. Leaving the magic of the desert, we head for the former, ancient capital, Nizwa, and explore the old fort or if you so wish, barter with local silversmiths in the Souk. With its renowned Arabian hospitality and dramatic desert environments, Oman is a welcoming destination for the intrepid traveler.

DAY 1:  ARRIVAL- MUSCAT HOTEL

You will arrive at the Muscat International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be meeting by our friendly & efficient Majan Views Tourism chauffeur who will assist you in the comforts of our vehicle to drive you to the hotel.

Day 2:  HALF DAY MUSCAT CITY TOUR

Pick up at 08.30 AM from the Hotel. Your city tour begins with a visit to the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East, the only mosque open to non-Muslims and expatriates in Oman. After that you will visit Bait Al Zubair Museum tour you will be satisfied with the wealth of information you have learned about the country’s structure, tradition, and heritage. You will then have a photo stop at the official residence of his Majesty the Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by the 16th-century Portuguese forts of Mirani and Jalali. Following this, you will travel along the picturesque Muttrah Corniche and visit Muttrah Souq which retains the chaotic interest of a traditional Arab market albeit housed under modern timber roofing. You will also be able to enjoy a moment along the corniche admiring the various cruise ships on the water at Mina Al Sultan Qaboos Port. From the Palace, and return back to the hotel (B, L)

Day 3:  NAKHAL FORT-WADI BANI AWF-BILAD SAYT

After your breakfast 08:30 am day will start to visit at Nakhal Fort. This 17th Century Fort has some stunning views from the battlements. It highlights the prime position this fort used to command and is really worth the climb. Nakhal is an old Omani village. It lies at the foothills of the mountains near an abundant source of water, which irrigates extensive date palm plantations. Next, you will travel to Wadi Bani Awf taking a stunning and exhilarating trip over the mountains. Deep in Oman’s countryside are many villages that still retain their traditional charm. Perhaps the most appealing of these is Bilad Sayt, a tranquil hamlet tucked away in the mountains. The road, or should I say track, is steep but worth the trip. Day 4:  AL HAMRA- JABEL SHAMS-MISFAT ABREYEEN

You will then proceed to Al Hamra, The oldest villages in Oman with clay houses dating back up to 400 years. Here you will also visit the old village where you can see the ancient mud houses. The viewpoint will give you the opportunity to take a great picture of Oman’s natural beauty…After that Misfat Al Abriyeen, set in a stunning landscape above terraced plantations of date palms. This is a rare sight in Oman as most palms are grown on the plains. The ancient houses and ruined watchtower perched on the mountain complete the scene. After a cultural day, you will be staying overnight at Misfah Inn. (B, L & D)

Day 5:  NIZWA FORT-BIRKAT AL MAUZ-JEBEL AKHDAR-NIZWA HOTEL

After your breakfast in the morning we will visit spectacular Nizwa Fort with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman. The fort is a museum today and offers splendid views of this ancient town and the surrounding mountains. You can walk around in this impressive fortress and visit its many rooms, passages, and towers. Next you will also we will depart for Jebel Akhdar also known as Green Mountain. On the way, we will stop by at Birkat Al Mauz and have an opportunity to walk in the middle of palm plantation at the foot of Green Mountain. Your next visit to the Post this, we will start ascending journey to Jebel Akhdar Mountains. This mountain offers discovery and adventure. We will experience and witness nature’s primordial beauty seen in the soaring peaks and plunging canyon along with the rise of terraces on extremely Steep Mountain slopes. There is a trek that goes from one village to another through the terraces and along with the falaj system. There is a splendid view of the hanging terraces. All the day the tour will be back at Hotel in Nizwa. (B, L & D)

Day 6:  NIZWA FRIDAY MARKET- IBRA- WAHIBA SANDS

After breakfast and check-out from hotel, visit the Nizwa traditional Souq. The Souq is a lively place and an ideal location to purchase handicrafts and souvenirs. A wide variety of vendors offer their goods in the streets of the souk from 05:00 am to about 10:00 am each morning. Here you can find fish, meat, vegetables, pottery, jewelry, handicrafts and souvenirs which are sold in authentic old market halls that few places can boast. Especially interesting is the Friday cattle market when the locals from the nearby Villages come to sell their donkeys, goats, cattle, sheep, and chickens in a circus-style open market place. After completing your Souq experience stop will be Ibra. It is Al Mudayrib and Ibra for a closer look at the watchtowers proudly looking over the villages from top of the hills… Post that we will start your journey to the Wahiba Sands. In the heart of the golden sands of Sharqiyah Desert nestled among stunning and ever-changing patterns of sand dunes, is the Arabian Oryx Camp. Here you will find a luxurious Bedouin-style tent. After settling into the camp you will be offered the amazing experience of dune bashing, with a spectacular view of the sunset. Followed by delicious Arabic Cuisine along with living entertainment whilst you sit under a starry sky around a Camp Fire this truly is a once in a lifetime experience Oryx camp for staying overnight (B, L & D)

Day 7:  WAHIBA SANDS -WADI BANI KHALID- SUR

After your breakfast at the desert camp, you will depart on an exciting 4wd journey through the desert and visit the local Bedouin house and have Omani Coffee. You will enjoy their traditional ways of hospitality. Our next stop will be Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis. The wadi has clear deep blue water and counts among the few wadis of Oman that hold water all year round. From the mountain springs, the water is led to the oasis where it sustains the typical date palms. The pretty villages of Wadi Bani Khalid cling precariously to the rugged mountainside… You will have time to relax at the hotel. Dinner will be served at 7:30 before a drive to Ras Al Jinz to see the turtles at around 9:00 pm. Whilst we are very successful in sighting turtles, there are no guarantees as it is a natural phenomenon. You will finish the tour at 11:00 pm and travel back to the resort for an overnight… Post this back to the hotel for overnight stay. (B, L & D)

Day 8:  SUR DHOW FACTORY-WADI TIWI-WADI SHAB

After your breakfast at 08:30 am you will travel to the traditional city of ‘Sur’ and your next stop will be at traditional Dhow building factory, where they use to build Arabian dhows the traditional way. Your next stop will be Wadi Tiwi, which is named after Tiwi village at the coast, is a truly beautiful wadi with the lush plantations giving it a different (certainly greener) feel than many other wadis. Post that you can continue to Wadi Shab (Wadi meaning valley between cliffs). Upon arrival at Wadi Shab, you will transfer to a small fishing boat to be taken across the wadi to enable you to start your journey. The word breathtaking hardly does it justice. You will walk through the amazing canyon until you arrive at the wadi which leads to the Keyhole. Here you can relax; take a dip in the pools. You will have the opportunity to swim through a pool of crystal clear water and dive through a narrow keyhole, inside you will find a magnificent cave, complete with an incredible waterfall. After enjoying walking and swimming, you will be travel to the beachfront resort. (B, L & D)

Day 9:  MUSCAT-BANDAR AL KKHAIRAN-HOTEL

After your breakfast we will visit the traditional fish market in Muttrah. After that, your next destination is the Bandar Al Khairan to the ocean activities like Dolphin Watching and Swimming and enjoyed the sightseeing view. This Ocean activity it will be finished by 02hrs. Then we will go back to Muscat at your hotel to have relaxed. (B & L)

Day 10:  DEPARTURE DAY

After amazing day’s tour it’s time for departure. Our guide will drop you at Muscat international airport for departure.

The trip will be a comprehensive package that comprises:

What to Bring/Wear?
-Sun cream, sunglasses, hat, camera, or case!
-The clothes, cosmetics and other stuff you usually take for a one night stay
-Include necessary items to survive cold weather during the night
-A medium-sized backpack is a good option for travel and it should have the option to carry your water
-Slippers or sturdy waterproof footwear if you plan to go swimming
-Camera and waterproof bag if you love to capture the scenic beauty
